MUSEUMS

Czechia is full of galleries and museums. In fact, there are more than 700, containing some 50 million exhibits and hosting around 7 million visitors annually. The city of Prague alone has over 200 galleries and museums. The cities of Brno, Ostrava and Pilsen are each home to between 50 and 30 museums and galleries.

Dating back to 1818 and with a massive collection of over 14 million items, the National Museum is a must-see on any visit to Prague.

The country’s open-air museums include archaeological parks, historic farmsteads, mills, standalone historic buildings of vernacular architecture, ecomuseums, military fortifications, old mines, and other types of industrial heritage sites.
