The priorities of Czech foreign policy are as follows:

  • Strengthening the security of the Czech Republic, analyzing threats and counter them
  • Promoting the Czech Republic’s economic and trade interests abroad, including energy security
  • Enhancing the Czech Republic’s positive image and perception abroad
  • Fostering good relations with neighboring countries and strengthen regional cooperation

Czechia is one of the EU’s medium-sized members (2.4% of the EU’s population and 1.3% of the EU’s GDP)

  • Supporting a well-functioning, politically and economically strong European Union
  • Maintaining and strengthening the transatlantic link
  • Promoting respect for human rights and democracy worldwide (using transition and development cooperation instruments)
  • Strengthening the European integration of Eastern and South-Eastern Europe
